Home Addition DIY Project - Insulation

Wall Insulation

The walls were insulated with R13 insulation to maximize the insulation compared to the R11. The insulation was stapled into the studs with 3/8" staples. This is quick if you set up a jig to cut the pieces. A simple mark on the floor at the right distance from a back stop works great. The insulation is rolled back against a stop and then cut off at the mark. As you see the electrical was roughed into the boxes before putting in the insulation.

Ceiling Insulation

The ceiling were insulated with R38 insulation to maximize the insulation for my climate zone. The same 3/8" staples were used on the ceiling. This is a dirty job, because all the fibers fall down as it is pushed it up in the ceiling joist. Thanks for reading! Next step will be drywall.
