Roof Shingles
The shingles were put on the addition and they were woven into the original house. The new tar paper was tucked under the original shingles at least 6 inches to help make it weather tight. Owens Corning Supreme Weathered Wood 3-Tab Shingles were chosen for the roof, and the color was a close match which will fade to be even closer. Each 3 tab shingle required four 1" long roofing nails but they go on pretty fast when you get started. A new style of starter strip was used along the drip edge on the eave and gable ends, which you can see below it just rolls out for quick install. This shingle starter saves time in making starter shingles and is available from several manufactures. It is great to have the roof all sealed up before the tar paper deteriorated and leaked.
